Q: What activities are around Hikkaduwa?

A: In Hikkaduwa you can hike, bike, windsurf, snorkel, scuba dive, play mini golf etc. There are some gyms in the town too. Some companies are also organizing whale watch -tours and panorama boat trips to coral reefs.

Q: What kind of evening entertainment is in Hikkaduwa?

A: Nightclubs, karaoke bars and places to play f.e. a game of pool can be found on the southern side of the town.

Q: Can I rent a surfingboard?

A: Yes you can! There are many places on the beach offering surfboards to rent. Also scuba diving -lessons and equipments are available.

Q: How far away is the beach?

A: The beach is about 2 km from Panwila Cabanas. You can travel easily to the beach (and the city) by Tuk Tuk (three-weeler). There are several restaurants offering comfortable huts and sun loungers (mainly free as charge).

A:  Heh. Very famous saying in this town!! In Hikkaduwa there is a lot to do and there are places to visit. Q: How to get there?

Buses and taxis are available at the airport but visitors are advised to contact us for transportation.

If you want to use public transportation,  a shuttle bus operates every 15 minutes from the terminal to main bus station located about 500m away, where intercity buses are operating to the city. Intercity bus number 187 will take you to Colombo Fort railwaystation. Travelling time from airport to railwaystation is usually about 1,5-2 hrs.

From Colombo Fort railwaystation departure trains to Hikkaduwa (direction Galle or Matara). Trains start running daily about 6:00 AM and stop about 6:30 PM. Travelling time from Colombo to Hikkaduwa is usually about 1,5-2 hrs.

Buses are leaving from Colombo Pettah bus station (opposite of railway station)  Route number 02 Colombo-Galle-Matara will take you to Hikkaduwa bus station. Travelling time from Colombo to Hikkaduwa is usually 2,5-3 hrs. (Luxury Busses are a little bit more expensive, but they do have an A/C..)
